How did the CYCLE research team create award-winning recycled cleaning products?

CYCLE cleaning products are the result of more than ten years of research. The award-winning circular cleaning product line was born as a result of the work of biologists, chemists, bioengineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers. But how?

The history of CYCLE

The CYCLE research team was investigating the possibilities of utilizing sewage sludge and how they could extract more biogas from organic waste. During the tests of efficient biogas production, the researchers noticed an interesting thing that they started to look into in more depth. During the process, the researchers were able to recover natural acids (such as acetic acid) and make useful products from them. It was only later that it became clear that these acids could be excellent natural cleaning agents. The theory was born, but it also had to be implemented in practice.

What was the new mission?

They found a new mission: to extract bioacids, especially bioacetic acid, from biomass. However, this was a challenge, as they wanted to bring biology under their control. First, they had to find out under what conditions the acid-producing bacteria feel good and when they are most active. They realized that the acid-forming phase lasts for a very short time, and therefore it was important for the researchers to intervene at the right time. Over the years, they finally managed to extract the valuable organic acids. Later, they were even able to extract water from the system, so that the production of the natural cleaning agent does not require wasting our finite freshwater resources. So nothing is actually wasted during production.

What can reNEW's technology do?

The reNEW technology successfully recycles biomass. It can extract several valuable raw materials from organic waste: bioacids and water for the production of cleaning agents, as well as providing high-quality raw materials for the production of biogas. The green energy source thus obtained contributes to the operation of the system. In the meantime, it keeps only the beneficial bacteria alive.

The story doesn't end here. Micro and macro elements can also be extracted together with humic acid during the biomass recycling process. This is an excellent plant nutrient solution. Thus, another valuable raw material is returned to nature, CYCLE, in addition to creating sustainable and effective chemical-free and recycled household cleaning products.

Further research and development work is currently underway in collaboration with FCSM. We cannot and should not stop, as further developments mean increasing our competitiveness in the market.
